History

BHR DESIGN GROUP was founded by Barbara Ross in 1988 providing high quality interiors for over twenty six-years working under the mantra of CREATIVITY – BEAUTY – ELEGANCE & COMFORT.  Prior to 1988 Ross was a founding partner of Dexter Design a leader in contemporary interior design. Projects have been featured in both books and magazines: The New York Times Magazine, Architectural Digest, Interior Design Magazine, House & Garden and House Beautiful to name only a few.

In addition to space planning and the more decorative aspects of design, Integrating the specific needs presented by clients Art and antique collections has been a hallmark of the firms design work. This approach carries over to the creation and fabrication of unique and “site-specific” furnishings and appointments that become integral to the overall interior design of a home.

Over the years BHR Design Group has completed residential projects in New York, NY. Bloomfield Hills, MI., Marblehead, MA .,  Livingston, NJ., MamaroneckRye, & Bridgehampton, NY., Montecito and Rancho Sante Fe, CA., Paradise Is, Bahamas,  West Palm Beach & Palm Beach, FL., Des Moines, IA.,  Greenwich , Sharon, &  Lake Waramaug, CT.,  and Aspen, & Boulder, CO.,

In addition to creating Interiors for scores of primary and vacations homes the firm has:

Designed the interiors of several private aircrafts and is currently designing the interior of the world’s largest private racing catamaran being completed in Normandy France.

Participated in several of the prestigious KIPS BAY SHOWHOUSES as well as several Table settings for Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue.  Also The 1992 Design Show sponsored by The Colonial Dames of America and room settings for The Italian Tile Institute, Kohler Industries, a St. Charles Kitchens.

Ross has also provided commercial interiors for: Lowe’s Corporation, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Hearst Corporation, Arbor House Publishing, Feibel  & Garrick – Columbus OH, Golo Footwear,  The New York Residence for the Arab Emirates,  and The Brazilian Trade Bureau. Ross provided the interiors for The Cashmere-Cashmere flagship store in  NY and guest rooms for the Mayflower Inn, Washington CT.  In Colorado Ross has designed the offices of Maxim Corporation, and the store, Playfair.

At the beginning of the new millennium, BHR Design Group remains  vital and innovative, welcoming unique challenges that sometimes require thinking outside the box of conventional design to provide their clients with CREATIVITY – BEAUTY – ELEGANCE & COMFORT for years to come.
